First visit

Your first visit, in order

Plan on about 90 minutes. Later visits take about 45.

  1. 01

    Step 1: Before you come

We send a written estimate of your fee, and a short note on what to bring. Tell us your sport, your season and what is coming up.

  2. 02

    Step 2: A talk

Naoki asks about your training, your week, your medicines and what you hope for.

  3. 03

    Step 3: A short assessment

He watches you move and presses along the muscles you use most.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Treatment

Needles go in and stay for about 20 to 30 minutes, with a quiet rest.

  5. 05

    Step 5: A plan

You leave with a suggested plan for the next few weeks, and what to do in the next day or two.

  6. 06

    Step 6: Your receipt

You get an itemized receipt, a superbill, that you can send to your plan. Your plan decides whether it reimburses acupuncture.

What to wear, eat and bring

  • Wear

Shorts or loose pants that roll above the knee, and a tank or short sleeves. You are draped for anything else.

  • Eat

Have a light meal an hour or two before. Don't come very hungry or right after a big one.

  • Bring

A list of the medicines and supplements you take, and the date of your next race or trip.

  • Skip

A hard session right before your visit. Come as you are, and tell us if you are sore.

  • Tell us first

Pregnancy, blood thinners, a pacemaker or implant, lymph nodes removed, bleeding easily or worry about needles.

  • Getting here

Street parking is on SW 6th Street, and the front door has a ramp.
